I have a 2012 Prius and I was looking to buying a repair manual. I found the Haynes repair manual, that states 2001-2012, but the picture on the cover shows a 2nd gen, so not sure if it would apply to a 3rd gen? I read a post that everything is on the online Toyota data base, but you have to subscribe. I found a method to download using Firefox, and convert to PDF but that was from 2014. Anyone know if that still works? Would like to know before I subscribe.
The Haynes stuff is very basic at best. You're actually better off with garage videos . Guys from here Toyoda mods and piles of others make very good videos you could spend a year not leaving you're house and still not cover all the gen 3 videos . Good luck find a download for real factory manuals .. they're around..
Yeah, those books are woefully lacking of details... You can check them out at your local library sometimes, but not worth spending money on. If you need to fix something specific PriusChat will not only give you lots of info, but many people on here will upload the needed files from the official Toyota repair manual.
If the local library is an option, it may also have access to the real manuals, as Elektroingenieur described on the wiki page about them. Night and day between the real manuals and the third-party books.
