It the possibility that someone at Toyota checks this chat for client feedback, I'd like to thank the genius who designed the headlight assemblies on my 2006. He, and whoever is overseeing the team, that designed this monstrousity need the prize of 2006 for total incompetency in vehicle design. I have spent 3 -4 hours changing my headlight bulbs, a task that should be designed to be an easy, routine task that any owner could do. Instead the access to the bulbs has been conceived such as to require training a pair of tame squirrels, one to hold the other's but, and the leader to insert the bulb. It is only marginally achievable by a mere human. A virtually impossible task. A stupid design that a high school drop-out could have done a better job on. Toyota please fire these guys!!!
He must have been changing the HIDs because the halogens pop in even with big hands and not looking The HIDs on the other hand are a little more tricky and usually you need to be looking at the ballast anyway and they're on the bottom of the headlight so it's quicker to take out the one screw behind the fender liner and just let the bumper push forward a little bit and then lift the headlight straight out that took an extra 4 minutes now you're done and dropping the headlight back on and putting the screw back in and that's pretty much it some people with HID have to do this they just can't get the angle and the connector and so forth or their bypassing the ballast and need to get straight 12 volt to the LED conversion and then you need to be able to see a little bit to bypass the ballast so lifting up at least on the back end of the assembly and getting it out of the hole so you can see into the hole that you uncovered to do this quick work.
Yes. The key is to just remove the headlight and turn it on its side...install the new bulb and then reinstall the headlight. Hopefully only once every 2-3 years
