My six week old Prius has just blinked and lost vision in its right eye - the right headlight just went out. Just curious if this is an anomoly or a known issue. My dealer has ordered the part, but no dianostic work has been done to see if it is really the light or some other issue. I sure hope this is covered by warranty?!
An anomaly for sure. Shouldn't need any diagnostics I don't think...unless the next one blows quickly too. At that point it should be looked into. I suspect it's just a defective bulb and will be covered under warranty.
Known issue - Headlights eventually burn out. It's pretty unusual for a bulb to go out after just six weeks, so relax. You got a bad bulb from the factory. You didn't mention if it was a HID lamp. Why would you think anything defective on a 6 week old car would not be covered under warranty? Sheeze, my wife took her out-of-warranty-by-3,000-miles Honda Pilot in for a broken rear strut and Honda covered it without me even asking. A pleasant surprise since they saw us leave the dealership in the Prius!
