With our Gen 3 car now at the ripe old age of 6 weeks, I've noticed what looks like fogging on the small inner lenses of both headlights. It looks a lot like what I noticed on the inside of my son's 9-year-old Celica's headlights, which are of a similar design. I cleaned his with a long stick wrapped with a rag on the end, which I poked through the narrow bulb opening. Brightness improved markedly. Before I get in there and attempt to clean them, might there be a reason they're manufactured like this? Admittedly, they're not nearly as obscured as the old Celica's lenses, but I can see the clouding. BTW, these are the Halogen lights. Anyone else notice this?
This sounds like condensation on the inside of the headlight housing. This is should be corrected under the warranty. Either the housing is cracked or the bulb is not sealing well. You should get a new housing, cleaning is probably not practical and is not likely to yield a lens housing equivalent to a properly sealed housing. I would investigate the gasget on your corolla as well.
Looking at it during the daylight, I now believe the headlights are constructed in a manner that looks a bit like clouding, but is actually how the plastic lense is cast. So, they're made that way!
my 5 days old 2010 Prius fogged up while parked in a stormy raining weather at night outside the parking lot. It's not normal to be like this because it's condensation inside the lens not outside. I took some photo on one of the light housing and will show to the dealer to claim warranty, however if it's a manufacturing defect I suspect my replacement lens will do the same thing unless the manufacturing methods are improved.
