Last week my car wouldn't let me excelerate and eventually just stopped completely. The mechanic did a diagnostic and replaced the 12V battery and the sensor system. Today I was driving on the freeway and the same thing happened. I made it off the freeway and now it's back at the mechanic. Every single light came on and it said check hybrid system. I'm a single mom. This is killing me. Does this sound like the hybrid battery is dead now?
Welcome to Prius Chat . Some questions: How many miles on your Prius? Did the mechanic give you a print out of the codes? Which part of California do you live? Keep us posted .
What exactly is a "sensor system" ?? It is possible that the new 12 V battery is bad.......or wasn't fully charged......or the connections are loose. But yes, it is possible that your HV battery is going bad. Note that with living in California, "hybrid" parts should still be under warranty.......unless you have VERY high mileage.
Hi , "Check" really means just that. We won't be able to guess what's wrong, or whether it's something little or big, until it's checked. First step is getting the trouble codes from the computers that are putting those lights and that message up. Then we'll see. -Chap
It could be the hybrid battery. But just guessing for now. Have Hime provide the diagnostic error codes he found in the system Alternately stop by a large auto parts place like AutoZone and see if they can scan your car for free. Then write down any error codes they find. If it it the battery it could be codes like P0A80 - replace hybrid battery Or p30xx identifying a bad hybrid battery that becomes weak
