My 2015 prius series 5 ride is really harsh when gong over bumps! 17 OEM wheels w Toyo tires set at 33 frt/32 rear, Trd springs frt/rear, trd rear sway Cusco frt sway bar, front power brace and center brace! Should go back to stock springs? What you guys suggest? Or invest in set of soft coil overs ? I like the lowered look too!
Is it harsher than when you were stock? Our Canadian Touring has the 17", with Michelin Pilot hx mxm4, and I've set pressures slightly high, around 35 psi all 'round. It is a bit harsh, not too bad, I just put up with it.
If you liked the ride before going to the new springs/suspension, then your springs/suspension is the problem. Going back to OEM will fix the problem. Oh the Toyo tires.....are really bad and noisy as hell
Yes. The ride is, "harsh". I have the 17" TRD Forged Rims, TRD Anti-Swaybar and Springs. The car handles like a dream on smooth roads, but in construction zones and poorly paved roads - you will feel everything. The Toyo's are NOT great tires. I had to replace them with 37,000 miles. I went to the Bridgestone Ecopia 422 Plus and the ride is less noisy, 38psi/37psi. I have driven sporty cars all my life, and I prefer handling and being planted to the ground more than comfort. I find the standard springs and 15's way too cushy, not to mention scary in defensive driving conditions, which are needed where I live. We do not have the most observant drivers here in Florida. It's like playing Frogger with your life.
OK I swap out the oem 17" w Toyo a20 to 16" wheels, michelin a/s 205/55 r 16 much better ride, more foregiving. Just install set of rsr low spring set, done the rears first , rsr offer a 1 inch drop compare to the trd 1.9 wow what a difference in ride comfort. fronts , the rsr offer a tad softer ride vs the trd. .
