Help: how to remove plastic cover above 12V battery and carpeted liners?

    I feel like the dumbest DIYer on the planet: I can't take the plastic cover off:

    How do I remove it without damaging any plastic parts?

    Also how do I peel off the carpeted liners along the walls both left hand and right hand sides (without damaging them) to expose the vents to do mouse-proof screening? Thanks!

    Using your hands, pull off the plastic piece at the center bottom of the hatch opening, where the lock is located.

    Look for a couple of screws that secure the left and right sides and remove them. Then carefully pull off the sides.
