Hey all, looking for some advice. We have a 2007 used Prius with a hymotion aftermarket conversion plug in battery. We never had luck getting the hymotion to work, so for the past year have driven our Prius as a normal Prius. All was going well... This week the Prius wouldn't start and the main screen displayed "Hybrid System Warning Light" no hybrid battery warning light was shown. We had it towed to the Toyota dealer, and he ran diagnostics. He got ~10 error codes. He then realized that we have the hymotion installed, and refused to complete any more work. We asked if we can have the hymotion removed (as it never worked, we spent no extra on it, really just a truck space filler), and they won't even do that! We have called a few mechanics and are getting the same response. Anyone have any suggestions?? We love our prius, don't want it dead yet!
I would check the 12v battery first, and if its in good shape or after you replace it you still have problems, you got to find a hybrid specialist not too far from home if you can. it is likely you have the 10 year old original 12v battery and its toast.
Start a Conversation with @ericbecky or phone him, I think he knows a bit about these Hymotion units. Unfortunately he's a bit far away for a visit. Not sure if there are any people more local to Toronto with Hymotion knowledge.
Also there is a Toronto Hybrid group that may have some folks familiar with the Hymotion system. Toronto Hybrid & Electric Car Club (Thornhill, ON)| Meetup Eric H of that group has been a hybrid and EV guy for quite a while.
Did you have to pay for this diagnostic service, if so did the dealer supply you with the diagnostic codes you paid for?
