I went into Wal-Mart for about 20 minutes and came out to my 2007 toyota prius touring and nothing would happen when I pressed the power key. No lights or anything. I went into Wal-Mart and had the service center do a portable jump and everything was fine after that. I drove around turned off the car and then let it sit for more than 30 minutes. I came back out and did the voltage check on the MFD and I had good readings 12.2V and then up to 14 when I started the car. I had Auto Zone test the battery and alternator and they said both looked good. I parked the car and the following morning I got all the lights on the dash with the message Problem with Transmission P locking mechanism park on flat surface and apply parking break. I hit power again and the car started fine. I took it to Toyota I haven't been to the dealer in years hoping they knew something. They tried to diagnose it and came up with nothing. Said the battery was good. Any ideas??
only thing I can add is the prius doesn't have an alternator. if the battery is original, definitely replace it, even if they say its good.
12.2 is low. you can try putting a charger on it and see if it hold, but you might need a battery. unfortunately, walmartz and toyota dealers don't understand the prius battery.
Replace the 12V battery now. If the car could not start until it was jumped, obviously the 12V battery is not doing its job.
Replaced the 12v with a yellow top battery on amazon for $145 shipped car seems to be running great now.
