I'm locked out of my car. The FOB key battery is dead and the manual lock seems to be seized up, it will turn a little if I use a pliers but am afraid I will break the key off if I apply any more force especially if it's in the wrong direction. Which direction does the key need to turn to unlock the car?
To unlock turn the knob backward. (But both directions should be possible. I mean you can lock a locked car and unlock an unlocked car.)
Maybe you can replace the battery within seconds. You only have to remove the key cover and then unscrew the battery cover. Perhaps you have a battery somewhere else in use. It's very common in bicycle odometers or in sport watches and chest belts with heart rate monitor.
Yeah I thought of that but I don't have a battery with me or the tinny screwdriver needed to remove the cover. I am staying at a lodge at a State Park. I asked at the desk if maintenance had any WD-40 and they came out and tried that but it still won't unlock. They are going to get there tool they use to unlock cars so hopefully that will work.
Ok Maintenance got me in the car! Now I need to get a new battery and figure out how to unseize the lock so this won't happen again
