Dear all, I have 2010 prius. recently there is a problem with my radar contolled cruise. some vehiced are not detect by the radar as usual. may be a adjustment problem. please help. new member
There is an alignment procedure in the factory maintenance manual, a competent technician at a Toyota dealer should be able to accomplish it. Could also be the transceiver or software but they should be able to check that. Has you car ever been in an accident? or had anything happen to it that could have damaged the unit. I have read this procedure and it does not sound too difficult but it requires Toyota's Techstream software so it is not a DIY project.
I have found that the DRCC has problems "seeing" vehicles in the rain, where the vehicle ahead creates a "cloud" by kicking up water. The "cloud" formed absorbs the radar energy so that nothing is reflected back to your sensor.
