Hi All, I recently bought a 2015 Prius V Four. I havn't had a car for about 10 years and my last car was a 2002 Ford Focus Wagon. I had about 300k miles when I sold that car and my favorite feature was being able put the back seats down and sleep in the back if on a long road trip. That (and gas mileage) was the main reason I chose a Prius V. I live in San Francisco and recently got a job in San Jose so I bought a car for the commute. Since I live in a pretty crappy part of San Francisco (or I may be leaving the car overnight in the train station) I'm wondering if anyone has any good ideas on hidden compartments. I'd like to be able to store things in the car without it looking like there being something stored in there. (I don't want to use the cargo area pull cover - thats just an invitation for a break-in) I know about the area in the trunk where stuff can be stored but I was hoping there were other places that either exist already or can be created by modifying the car a bit. (BTW this isn't for drugs, I just want to be able to leave stuff in my car without attracting people to break in). Since I don't know what I'm doing about parking I'm having the dealership hold on to the car for me until I figure out what I'm going to do. (Oops - looks like I bought it too early). I'm also looking for good ideas for two people to sleep in the back. Different ways to configure the car for privacy for emergency sleeping. I.e. Having to pull over on a long drive to sleep. Lastly, in my younger life I was a Boy Scout. Boy Scout's motto is "Always Be Prepared". Here's my question: What's on your "Essentials" list for your Prius? I assume the regular things like jumper cables & first aid kit. What else? Where do you store it? I'm happy to be part of this community now -B
may not be as big of a concern where you are located, but a pair of gloves in the glove box, and carry a snow brush/ice scraper
There's a good bit of invisible space under the back seats, just be sure to not block the battery vent opening. Your best concealed space is under the rear deck, its easy to get to and has a lot of space. On the driver side at the rear hatch there's a triangle shaped cover and a fairly large storage well underneath. You best bet for privacy in the rear is tinted windows.
I always have this in the car when I'm traveling: Mini Multi-Function Jump Starter: BatteryMart.com (useful for charging many other items, as well as jump-starting autos (not just my Prius)) - that, plus brush & ice-scraper plus bottle of windshield-washer fluid. …er, that's it! - hope this helps - Wil
one of those glass breaker hammers for whenever i fly off the road into a body of water. welcome, and congrats!
There's a pull-out cupholder at the base of the centre console where you can store small items. That one's really hidden. There's an open compartment called an umbrella holder behind the rear seats. If you recline the seats a bit and use the vinyl part of the tonneau cover (the part that attaches to the rear seat headrests), you could hide something there.
