It first increases the engine torque to resist any rearward motion. If more assistance is required, the brakes are applied to the rear wheels, and the brake light goes on. The system is designed to resist rollback long enough to enable the driver to move between the brake pedal and throttle..." I've tried it on a parking lot ramp and the Prius rolled backwards. I did not see the brakelight come on either. Has anyone else tried this?
it may be disabled. They turned off a handful of features when producting this car. I have had the prius roll back too.. it's more of a slip when going backwards.. you can tell the idle is trying to keep you going forward. Kindof a strange sensations. Another featuer they turned off was the speed volume control. As the car goes faster, the volume would gradually get louder. Even my brothers F350 has that, with seat heaters, and a moon roof.
