A stock that I owned last year went private. I was required to sell the shares. Now it is time to do the taxes. I can find sites that give historical prices, but not this one as it is not traded any longer. Anyone have a suggestion for a site that can help me. I need to know the prices on the issue dates of some stocks in order to figure capital gains.
You should have gotten that information when you purchased the stock - you did keep that, didn't you? From the IRS's point of view, only two dates matter: the date you bought it or vested in it (the latter for those with stock options) and the date you sold it.
