This year, I'm trying to design my own Christmas cards. It pays to have a professional photographer as a friend! The photograph is my Christmas wreath with the peace sign with a red plaid bow, on a white background, and a simple red border. It looks great! I tried to post the photo, but I didn't have any success. Anyway, I now have to decide on the phrase for the inside. Here are my 2 choices I'm considering: Give Peace a Chance" or Imagine... So which do you prefer? I look forward to your views. Peace --
You can always stick with the classic: Times are tough, Life is hard Here's your effin' Christmas card
I like the simplicity of Imagine to go with the picture of your Peace wreath. Although I believe Rat has a differing point of view .... [attachmentid=5831] Pearls Before Swine ©Stephan Pastis
Just please don't send one of those awful "catching up" letters with the card. It seems as though those are used more to brag than anything else.
LOL. Proco, you've made my day! Marj, Can you ignite the wreath and take a picture of it as it burns? On the inside, you could say, "The wreath, the wreath, the wreath is on fire!" Now that I got that out of my system, let's get serious. If those are the two choices, I would go with "give peace a chance" because you are explicitly saying what you are interested in. When someone tells me to "imagine" my little brain kicks into high gear and, as my wife is quick to point out, they are usually not clean thoughts. Not only that, but when I start singing "Imagine" I usually get to the part of "Imagine there's not Heaven, it's easy if you try" and like the lady in the cartoon, "that's not very Christmasy."

Northern Sun has t-shirts and bumper stickers with a slogan I like: "GIVE PEAS A CHANCE" with a peace sign and a picture of several pods of peas. Personally, I find "Imagine" to be smarmy. I don't think that imagining will accomplish anything. It take grass-roots organizing. So between the two slogans you gave, I'd go with "Give peace a chance." It's simple, straightforward, and a concrete suggestion. We've never really given peace a chance. Another classic is, "What if they gave a war and nobody came?" Or my personal favorite: "Be realistic: Demand the impossible."
