My average for my last 5 tankfulls is 54.5, real, fuelly calculated. The warmer summer weather in Minnesota has been great for my MPG.
I'm thinking the ethanol-free gas had a lot to do with it. Plus careful driving of course. Congratulations !
Followed up with 47.3. Not bad considering its still 94+ degrees and I had a 89 mile trip from RDU to Fayetteville, NC last night, filled up there and 65-75 mph back. I did reset 1 tripmeter while on the Interstate and averaged 48.6 interstates only. The pics of the pump was me using my built up 62 cents/gal BP rewards, which turned $2.55/gal to $1.93. Still using BP 89 E0. Thankfully Fayetteville had it too. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Yep, and the tank I'm on now looks to be about 52-53 MPG. Have been lucky lately with not too many short errand runs. I'm really loving my 'v'
I once ran and tankful of Iowa ethanol free gas through my 2007 Prius on a trip and got 56mpg, my best ever- and ever since Trump lost in the Iowa primary ( he was pro ethanol) to a non ethanol supporting candidate, I have been expecting Congress to begin scaling back ethanol mandates to our gasoline.
There is not much doubt in my mind that E0 allows better MPG, except what we are missing is definitive test data from Consumers Reports or EPA doing real world tests on fuel blends on a Prius. Owning a Prius gives us 50 MPG benchmark...every day we see it staring at us in our face, and if we are getting 47 when we could be getting 50+ , we see that right away. But some say we are fooling ourselves, we should be looking at gallons per mile, not miles per gallon. If we look at 1/50 vs. 1/55, we are really not saving much gasoline. But I do not know about that, gimme 55 MPG if I can get it without harm to the environment. But you need to look at Ethanol the way Congress does: jobs jobs jobs. And votes votes votes from the Iowa-like states.
I look at it the way I do: saves me money, better for environment and better for my car. They say ethanol gas helps the environment, but have they measured the impact of resources used to grow and harvest? Probably not. Plus our tax money subsidizes it. No I do not believe ethanol is better for the environment. My understanding would be that there is no scientific rationale favoring oxygenates in gasoline. So you are talking about national energy strategy and politics. Ethanol has some advantages over other oxygenates as far as non-toxic etc. so it can be safely used, but not saying it is better. Decades ago ethanol reduced tailpipe CO, but now the cat converter almost totally removes CO,. so the cat converters greatly removed the +eco argument for ethanol. The 3-way cat converter people deserve a Nobel prize IMHO, unless they already got it.
