As documented in another thread, my Prius was in an accident which smashed in the front right corner quite badly. It took nearly four weeks - but it was repaired to my full satisfaction - in the sense that I could find nothing wrong. That was over a month ago, and I just ran into a problem I'm assuming was accident related. For the first time since I got the car back, I had need to pop the hood (just for washer fluid), and when I closed it, the hood was noticeably no longer straight. I opened it and closed it a few times, very carefully, and it always latches in the same position - the front is off to the left by about 1cm. This leaves a notable gap on the right, and it impacts and overlaps the headlight assembly on the left. Obviously I've got to do something about it, will probably drive it in on Tuesday to the shop that repaired it so they can take a quick look. In the meantime, any guess what might be wrong? I looked it over pretty closely after it was repaired, and I'm pretty damn sure the hood was straight at the time. Did the last guy to close it (after putting it back together) force it back into position, or has something shifted, popped, or otherwise went wrong since? *sigh* -Ken
yep, that goes back to the shop. getting a hood on straight is no trivial job... we had a real time of it replacing the hood on my old buick. they used oem parts, right?
