It may be a stupid question but I could only find references to it and not a real picture or instructions. I can see the fuse box on my 2010 has a red + cover with a metal thing in there. Is this where I plug in a power cable to? I'm installing a relay to my aftermarket HIDs since plug/play don't provide enough juice. Any help would be appreciated.
The red cover with the metal thing is the 12V battery jump point since the battery is in the rear cargo area. This is where you would jump the 12V battery in case of a low battery. There are some other 12V connections in the engine fuse box. I do not have a drawing of the fuse box readily available but maybe someone that does will post a drawing on here.
Ahhh not having read all the owner's manual, I always did wonder about that. I actually took a picture in case anyone can help. Appreciate it!
See the empty square just to the right of the large white wire in the picture. At the bottom of the square is a male part of a spade lug. This is a 12V connection point. I added Fog Lights to my car and the instructions had me use this 12V connection point for the Fog Light relay. With a car like the Prius you really need to take the time to read the Owner's Manual. There is a lot of useful information in this book
I think I did see your post actually. So I'm buying this. The positive just has like a loop. Would I have to take off that end loop and install it into a female-like spade plug? I'm guessing spade plugs can be purchased at a car parts store. http://thmb.inkfrog.com/thumbn/projdm/Relay-01.jpg=600
Nevermind, I think I got it! Thanks for your help. BTW, do you know how much those two male spade plug slots can handle as far as amps?
Im not sure the manual will have this info & without taking the fuse box apart to look at the gauge size of the wires, I don't think anyone will know the answer. If ur worried about using them, just connect to the jump post.
