How do I get my new smart key to unlock/ lock?

    So I did the first part of registering the key to where it will turn the car on while in the slot

    Also looks like the key is registered on techstream

    However the video I watched on the second part of the programming is quite confusing... How do I get the key to work for locking and unlocking the car?

    I have techstream too if that helps. This key is used however it looks like it's hardly ever been used

    So the "new to you" second-hand key has a silver logo on the back?

    Are you just referencing the YT video or have you printed out the instructions form the "Chicken Dance" Thread?

    If you are just trying to go by a YT video, you might be going too slow.

    I suggest you go to post #568 in the "How to Program a New Key Fob for Full SKS Functionality" thread (which is pinned to the top to the 'Gen 2 Prius Main Forum'), expand the quoted post out full then print it off. Have somebody sit in the car with you and read you the instructions while you perform the actions.

    There are blocks (of steps) that need to be performed within certain time frames as noted. Read ahead and do a few practice dry runs before doing it for real.

    Correct silver logo

    Well doing said dance I can get to the 2nd step near the end where you press both buttons of the old one then the new one then the lock button

    However when I try to hit the lock and unlock bottom of the old one, then the new one nothing happens

    As noted in step 9b, did you try:

    1.Press lock and unlock on the old fob for 1.5 seconds.

    2. Press lock and unlock on the new fob for 1.5 seconds

    3. Press lock and unlock on the new fob for 1.5 seconds a second time.

    4. Press lock only on the new fob.
