how do I........

    Turn off the power to the engine but leave the stereo on? Just want to finish listening to a favorite song. Do I need to power down and then immediately power back up with my foot off of the brake?

    Had my prius 4 weeks now and can't imagine buying anything else.

    I'd just leave the power on. The engine will not run unless the traction battery gets too low.

    Yes, just leave it ON. Let it manage its own energy. It's not like a conventional car, the penalty for staying ON for a few more minutes while not moving is trivial. Besides, there's no way to get from ON to IG-ON or ACC without interrupting the song.

    The only time you should not leave it ON is when you're in a completely enclosed space with no provision for removing the exhaust.
