How does the HVAC system in the Gen 5 Prius work?

    From what I see of the catalytic converter and exhaust system, the Gen 5 Prius has eliminated the exhaust preheater found in both the Gen 3 and Gen 4 Prius models.

    Does this mean that all Gen 5 Prius models use the heat pump system first introduced in the Gen 4 Prius Prime?

    No. Only the Prime has a heat pump.

    The exhaust preheater was there for quicker warm up of the engine.

    Maybe the benefit wasn't as big to the new 2L, Toyota deleted it for reliability, or they deleted it for cost.
