So for those of you with the solar roof how effective are the fans at keeping the interior cool on warm days?
If there was an option for moonroof without solar roof I'd take it since there is the remote start accessory.
Actually it's just a remote A/C function - no heating because the engine does *not* start with this feature ( a plus in the A/C case ).
If the car already has the AC button on the key fob, then why are they charging $500 for a remote start that doesn't start the engine?
As an alternative, you can get the remote start option dealer installed for $529, which has the added benefit of heating your car if you live in cooler climates, as well as starting the AC if it is warm. I hope that in the 2011 or 2012s they offer the moonroof as a standalone option as I think the solar roof and remote AC are only necessary in the desert, and I'm still skeptical how well it will work. There are two different things here- the solar roof package is $3600. It includes navigation, the moonroof, the solar panel fan thing, and the remote AC feature. The remote start option is $529, which is what most are familiar with- it starts your car and turns on whatever heat or AC options you left on the last time you exited. You could combine the two (roof package and remote start) if you like, but unfortunately you cannot pick and choose items from the solar roof package at this time. Here's a link that talks about the remote start option.
That's what I was talking about. I live in Jersey and the solar roof will be convenient since I park in the sun all day... but i'd still prefer just a moon roof with the remote start
It's still just May, so your question might be a tad premature. Ask again, around July/August when the warm days REALLY get here. Then you'll have a basis of comparison.
