Saw a similar, long-running thread about those who both drive Prius and are pilots. Figured why not summarize the results in a poll so we don't have to scroll through 13 pages? And is there some association between being a pilot or desiring to be one and the same desire to drive a Prius?

For the record, I'm a private pilot (PP), airplane, single-engine, land (ASEL) - about the most basic you can get, with ~100hrs mostly in C172s, biding my time for an instrument rating.

I've always wanted to get my license but never had the time or money. I think I have logged more hours in computer flight sims than driving a car.

Nineteen choices and not one of them matches me: Former student pilot. Passed ground school and passed the written exam. Soloed a Piper Tripacer (circa 1964) but had to quit flying lessons when my step-father sold his airplane. Never went back to it.

Circa 1974-5 considered getting a license in order to become a crop sprayer in North Dakota, jobs being hard to come by in rural N.D., but abandoned that idea when I realized that all the crop sprayers I knew (a lot of farmers do their own spraying) had crashed at least once.

Gave up flying when the costs just became too extreme for me to justify continued involvement. My share in a local flying club was $8,900 plus $35 per hour plus fuel
