Hey People, How many pumps does are cars have? I know we have a water and inverter pump. But I hear something else running in back of the inverter. I hope that one, if it is a pump, doesn't ever go out. How would anyone get in there? Thanks.
1. Engine coolant pump 2. Inverter coolant pump 3. Heater core pump 4. Coolant heat recovery system pump (North America only) 5. Fuel pump 6. Front windshield wiper pump 7. Rear hatch wiper pump 8. Air conditioner compressor (if you consider that to be a pump) 9. Brake actuator (contains high pressure hydraulic pump)
Yippee, my inverter water pump just failed today!!! No seriously, it just happened 90 minutes ago about 7 miles from home. The car was cruising just fine without any noticeable change in behavior. I did slow down to 50 mph the rest of the way just in case something was seriously wrong after the triangle of death came on. Once I got home, my handy code scanner read the trouble code P0A93. No other issues. The pump still runs but it's not doing the job adequately because the warning lights came on. The HV ECU will trigger a code when temperature rises to a certain level - whatever that is. The coolant in the reserve tank was just warm, not hot. Now I need to visit the *&(^%&$]@"# stealership!!!! to get the "free" limited service campaign done. I can't wait to see what else they want to sell me. Oh well, it was just a matter of time I guess - 181,800 miles.
