Hi all, There are not many IV's on the market now, and I currently see one (listed online incorrectly as a "V"). I like it, but it is a 2012 with navigation/leather (no sunroof) with 37,000+ miles Not certified. Not a Toyota dealer. It is another dealer. Listed for $16,900. It is out of our price range, but the records are excellent. It is hard to tell what a fair price is without many IV's on the market. NADA seems to think it is in the ballpark. It has been on the market for over a month. Since it is nearing the end of the year, any advice on how to proceed in talking about a fair price with the dealer would be appreciated. Thank you!
a fair price is only relative to what else is available. the market is weak now, so even though they are hard to find, the dealer probably does not know it. i would make an appointment for a test drive. put it through it's paces, with a thorough knowledge of what to expect. be nonchalant and tell them you have other vehicles to look at. when they ask what it's going to take to sell you the prius today, start low, and keep going lower, until they're on their knees, and tears are streaming down their face. all the best!
Bisco, thanks for another laugh! Do you think that $14,500 is way too low to begin? I really have no idea. I've looked at the NADA, Edmunds, and the Kelly Blue Book. We're comfortable leaving, but would love to leave the door open for the end of the month.
not at all, you can always come up. look at it this way, the dealer might only want $14, 500., but they aren't going to start there.
