I am looking to replace the rear calipers on my 2013 Prius Two. The previous one, installed a year ago, is already leaking (around the parking brake cable) but the shop is under new ownership and will not honor the warranty. I want to make sure they use quality parts but probably don't have the budget for the new OEM parts. Any suggestions?
Welcome to Prius Chat . Some questions: How many miles on your Prius? Have you checked eBay or the local salvage yard? Is the shop an independent or dealer? Have you gotten a second opinion? Good luck and keep us posted .
Your problem maybe the brake line, and not the caliper. Its either a loose brake line connection or puncture. If its the brake line, caliper change wont alleviate leaking.
When you have the part numbers for the OEM rear calipers, you can search the online dealers for those part numbers with -84 tacked on the end. Those will be from Toyota's own remanufacturing program, better on the budget than new ones, better quality (in my experience) than third party. Only some parts are in the program and stock is variable ... might find them, might not. -Chap
