If anyone has a used Prolong charger and/or discharger (light bulb version or newer automated version) I am interested in a purchase for my Gen 2 Prius. Thanks, Paul
I think @fotomoto was considering selling his awhile back. Not sure if he ever did or not though. It’s great equipment to have in your tool chest.
It sold PDQ here on the forum. Consider purchasing new and reselling after one moves on and consider the difference a rental charge. It makes sense/cents.
You can build a light bulb discharger for $5. Just buy a charger or you can build your own for less than $100
This is an amateur list, you can get better parts if you like. Parts needed to build a grid charger and light bulb discharger for HV battery. Parts needed from Mouser Electronics 1. LPC-100-350 - led power supply 2. 512-1N4004 - rectifier Parts needed from Amazon/Home depot 1. uxcell AC-DC 110-220V 12V 12.5A (I think 5A+ will work) 150W LED Strip Light Switching Power Supply 2. Leviton 9875 Porcelain Outlet Box Mount, Incandescent Ceiling Lampholder, Keyless, White 3. 100w bulbs, 60w bulbs, 25w bulbs need to find parts 1. Connector to plug into HV cooling fan (I got this at junkyard) 2. wire nuts 3. 1 or 2 computer power cords 4. extra wire (I just used old extension cord wires) 5. 2 pieces of wood for mounting the charger and discharger Wire everything up and you have your DIY charger for less than $100
I have a picture of what I put together, it's fairly basic setup with some wire nuts and electrical tape.
