I've noticed the battery icon dropping precipitously now that hot weather has arrived and I'm using the auto air conditioning. it comes back up once speed is attained but I'm concerned about it sitting for long periods of time in hot weather. I have a 2010 and am using the air regularly for the first time since we bought it new - moved from cool climate to hot 6 months ago. No problems in cool weather.

no worries, there is a lot more charge than the icon displays.

It is that time of the year for those of us in the warmer areas of the country. If you are moving, stopping and starting then the regen will keep the HV battery recharged. If you are sitting with the ICE off, when the battery icon drops to 2 bars the ICE will start and charge the battery up to 4 bars and then shut off again.

No worries. The car computers and battery management ECU will take good care of the HV battery.

    Welcome to warmer weather :)

It's best to use the AC to keep the car cool since interior air is used to cool the HV battery.
