Found a 2005 Prius with ONLY 44k miles on it. Mechanic says its very sound, but warned about battery life @ 10 years. What are your thoughts/experiences with a configuration like this? Will the battery last over time? Car sat for the last 4 years, driven only once or twice a year (thus the low miles). Is that kind of life good or bad for the hybrid battery?

    welcome!
low miles are usually what kills them. that being said, if it's a good deal, why not go for it, and throw $2,500. into a new battery if it ever needs one?

Low miles kills the batteries? Because of non use?

yes, these batteries like exercise. some cabs rack up 3-400,000 miles without battery issues.
something happens when they sit too much, but i'm no chemist.
