Hard to say for the Gen III Prius. They have only been around since 2009. Just too few with 100,000 plus miles to say what the average life span is. High heat (like Arizona) and lots of mountains (like the Rockies) have been shown to be bad for the Gen II battery.
DeJaVu thought I responded to this thread...lost post? I was saying warranty is 8yr/100k miles or CARB 10yr/150 miles ...any Gen3 battery replacements at all so far in USA noted here? In any case, seems Gen3 batt replacements quite low so far
Check the 200,000 and 300,000 mile threads, several there at that mileage and still on original battery. One that I saw has 295,000 miles with the original HV battery and original brakes. I'm at 103,000 miles and absolutely no repairs. I run all my vehicles to high miles and expect to do the same with the Prius. I had two Accords with over 250k when traded and 298k on the Honda Odyssey. I traded one vehicle with 1,220,000 miles and only replaced the clutch at 903K, of course that was a BIG truck.
I have a similar concern: just bought 2013 v with 103.000, wondering how to check the condition of the battery?
