I Purchased my 2023 Prius XLE in Sep and have only just crossed 1000 miles. On a recent trip to PA i kept noticing a message that would briefly pop up saying EV mode cannot engage due to low battery level or something to that effect. Im not getting any errors or check engine light
Were you trying to put it into EV mode? The car will use the engine more if the charge was low, or if a condition reduces output or could cause damage; too hot or cold. Announcing it couldn't use EV mode under those conditions without asking to use it from the driver wasn't normal in the past models. The car just did what it did for best performance without risking the system. Felt no need to tell the driver why.
