Toyota's lead in the hybrid race is now all but unassailable thanks to the launch of the latest Lexus. When the GS 450h lands, Toyota will have six hybrids on the road if you count the upcoming LS flagship, which is twice as many as its nearest competitor -- Honda. While many tend to dismiss hybrid technology as something rather fanciful and not the most practical solution to a looming problem, the fact is it works and, in the case of the GS 450h, very nicely so. The GS is also somewhat different than all other hybrids -- it drives its rear wheels (all others are front-drive vehicles). This twist makes the GS the most dynamic hybrid yet in terms of its driving feel. It's also somewhat of a sleeper as only the 450h badge on the back and two small hybrid badges at the rear of the side sills give away the game. Even if you peek inside, you'll only notice a power metre in place of the tachometer. All very subtle stuff until you drive the GS 450h. Full Article
