I accidentally connect the red positive in the fuse box to car body with a wrench, car wont start, there is no power at all, the door lock does not even work. what should I check now? I prefer DIY to fix it...save some cost, please help here. what fuse should I check I own a 2004 Prius. Thank you in advance!
You probably burned out a large fuse or fusible link. Also, check the voltage of the 12 volt auxiliary battery.

I know in my 04 prius, I have fuse box located 1 under the hood, 2 instrument panel 3 luggage area. thank you!
Look for an owner's manual, either on paper or online. There likely are other things in there that you need to know. P.S. Is that "hot" point not supposed to be covered by a red plastic protector of some kind ?? If you were about to disconnect the battery itself, you should ALWAYS disconnect the negative cable first and reconnect it last.

Hey, Rude person's and Easy Rider 2 and bisco, I would like to say thank you to all of you. I did as the Mike suggested, checked the fusible link, it turns out that it is the 120 AMP fusible link in the trunk got blown ( in the manual it says "fuse #50 main: hybrid system" located in luggage compartment). Thankfully there was no other damage ( I just got the car few days ago!) I went to AutoZone and bought one Bussmann 120 AMP fusible link that matches my model (BTW, in order to get the fusible link/fuse out, since it is bolted on to that "thing" above the battery, I need to take off the brake control unit first and take off that "thing" from battery (there is this YouTube link I watched and feel might be helpful. ) I also used 10mm and 13mm socket to remove the bolt. Put it back, positive first, then negative My 04 Prius comes back to live! I hope this information can help someone else in the future, just in case.
