Took my car for my 20K service. My old service person had left & he never fed me any extra stuff. This new person I was assigned came out & said I needed several items: A wheel balance $128 life time one time fee. A headlight alignment $79 A gas treatment to prevent carbon build up $79 A couple other items I can't remember. Now I am going to have to say no a lot. We will see. Overall I still like my dealership for now.
haha... and all of those things you don't even need... Pretty sad they're trying to up sale you on a lot of non sense.
That's such a 180 degree change in approach... Maybe talk it out with them, let them know you're not buying it. And if the persist: any other dealership nearby?
It would be a bit of a drive for the OP in Williamsburg, but McGeorge Toyota in Richmond never tries to sell me anything beyond the oil change that I ask for.
The first time I had service done, the service writer wanted to do a few things, I said is this need to keep the car with in warranty? He said, well no but, we recommend. I said well then we don't need it done do we. He has never asked to up sell me ever since. We get along just fine now after two years. He knows were I stand.
