I've reached my 30k and I also have a slow leak in one tire. So I need new tires ASAP. I've read through a few of the posts here but most posts on new tires here are for people who live in California or Florida. I live in MD and we experience all 4 seasons. I would have gone with the GoodYear Integrity's again but they only last 30k and I'm sure there are better tires out there. ANy help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I live in Northern Michigan, which certainly isn't Southern California or Florida. We switched tires before our first winter; the OEM tires are simply not up to our snowy winters. We went with Micheline MXV4+ Energy low rolling resistance all-season tires in the same size as the OEMs. They have worked great for us: better handling, traction, and less road noise. The mileage has been the same. Micheline updated the tire since we bought ours, and now call it the MXV4 Primacy, or something to that effect. Many other people on PC have reported good luck with Nokian WR-Gs, but I have no experience with them. Tom
Since this is the technical section and many very technical questions have been answered about many Prius issues I wondered if anyone knew why the stock tires, Integras, are really not all weather-worthy like some aftermarket tires recommended by astute members of Prius Chat? I see postings from 2004 and the postings are similar. Why does Toyota continue to use these as 'stock tires' given Prius owners poor driving experiences? I plan to give the tires on my 2008 Prius a chance to make it through this winter. My integras seem ok but I have less than 4 K miles on them. I heard 5 K could be the demarkation point between effective and ineffective. Why would that be the case. rapid tire wear, poor rubber compounds? Any answers? Terry
