There appears to be a secondary filter in the housing lid and I have never touched it. Is it replaceable or cleanable?
Hi Ozark, how do you like the K&N filter? Notice any improvements in fuel savings or performance? Seems like a controversial subject here and on other forums but the majority who use this particular filter seem to be quite satisfied...
I like it. I installed it at the first oil change and clean it about every 25,000 miles. The Prius seems to have a little more power and may get a bit better mileage but those may be my imagination since I had only 5K miles when it was installed and now have 144K. My main advise is that a clean filter is best. K&N is not "install and forget", it requires a modest amount of maintenance.
