Alright so long story short, I will get my new Prius 3 in two weeks. (Barcelona Red with dark gray if anyone's interested.) It's not only my first Prius but also my first new car ever. I'm trading in my '07 Pontiac Grand Prix and I'm so excited about not only the gas mileage but also all the tech in the car. The downside is my salesman is very new. (He told my friend while I was in the bathroom that he's only been there six weeks.) Since I'm also very new at this, I would appreciate any tips or advice people have for me for when I take delivery or even things I should email him about in the meantime. I've got the warranty and finance things worked out. I'm having them put in heated leather seats and I know I want them to turn off the reverse beeper. Is there anything else I should expect him to go over with me or that I should make sure I ask about before I accept this car? Thanks!

Read all the manuals several times. Read this: [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Prius]Toyota Prius - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] and this: [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hybrid_Synergy_Drive]Hybrid Synergy Drive - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] and watch this ( for Generation I but the principal is the same ): Prius driving simulator
Not sure of what your salesperson shared wit you so far. When I first went looking at the Prius, Toney at Koons Tyson's Toyota went over the Prius before my test drive as if I was taking delivery compared to my other car purchases that seemed to wait till I took delivery. At Carmax Laurel Toyota, Joel my sales guy, wanted to do the same - even though I told him I knew what I needed to know. In your case you can get the car setup the way you think that you want. While a nuisance, the reverse beep is decent reminder with all the other reminders going on.
The first thing I would do is head to a gas station and make sure it's filled up to the first click. You never know exactly how much gas is in there to start unless you do it yourself. Otherwise your first MPG stats won't be as accurate as you would like. Fuelly doesn't count anything before the first fuel-up, so start it off right.
If you are wondering about the extended warranty, many folks consider it to be overpriced and unnecessary.
^^^ Yep, and if the OP still wants it, http://priuschat.com/forums/sponsor...rius-extended-warranty-service-contracts.html is almost certainly a better deal. One can wait until just before the 3 year/36K mile basic warranty expires to buy...
At least you got confirmation early on that the sales person is not likely to know much. As others have said, read through the manuals online --- chances are you will be within a page or two of your sales person.
