I use my new to me 2010 prius with 72,000 miles as a pizza delivery car. I've had it two weeks now and I love it. When I come to a stop I occasionally notice the ICE feels similar but not exactly like when a normal non-hybrid car stalls and dies. It seems to happen mostly when I exit the parking lot and need to stop for traffic very shortly after leaving the store. Is this normal to occasionally notice the ICE shutting down at intersections?
welcome! yes. in fact, it should almost always shut down, when you're not pressing the accelerator, except when it's warming up, or trying to provide heat. that's the beauty of hybrid synergy drive, no need to run the engine all the time. all the best!
