Quote from a movie. So I was wondering why I could format a 256GB to FAT 32 in my dash cam without any issue while it is stuck on extra fat around the middle in windows? So formatted a 128GB SD card in my camera and put it in a USB reader with MP3 files. Will check it shortly in the Beast! Anyone try this yet????????
So! It works! Not only does it work but the file structure is mostly fixed on indexing music files. Not sure if the interface is different for the Highlander (beast)?
Have you got it plugged into USB slot or AUX IN socket? I've plugged an MP3 player with a large SD card and that worked fine - except that it wouldn't charge unless 1) I connected it to a USB charger - and 2) found some other way to listen to PODCASTs while it charged.
Need to check but it is the only USB on the front bottom rear facing trim panel on the Highlander. All previous attempts with exfat did not work as well as NFTS. The input only accepts FAT 32 unless a FW changed it recently
another option is to format in exfat unless you've already tried and it doesn't work in the player or the car. Android uses exfat iOS uses fat32 and I'm not sure what the car will read.
Also I was premature on file structure. The first song on some RIPS is hidden but will eventually play. Strange thing is not all RIPS do that.
I've found USB drives erratic. Particularly with file order - some I've managed to get them to play in proper order, but sometimes it's moody. And some seemed not to want to go down to sub-directories. I now tend to play music on CDs, PODCASTS on USB sticks. That works OK for me.
