..don't expect great mileage. Driving from Miami to Tampa, average trip MPG per computer is 38. That's very close to the real mpg. Average trip speed per computer is 77mph, but real speed was mostly in 85-95 range, hitting 105 a few times. Average traffic speed was high.
I have 2 gen3 5, and my personal best was just below 45mpg on both, roundtrips of ~25mi. As of now it leveled to 40-41mpg. So is my wife's. Rather consistent. I see the 600mi club thread, and I just can't imagine how they achieve such mileage.
Wow. Just Wow. That is a different world from where I live and drive. Driving cross state yesterday, arriving home late on a Friday night, I started spotting the crazy Friday Night Racing crowd coming out about 70 miles from home. But even the most blatant of those testosterone- or alcohol-fueled nutcases weren't going more than 20 mph over the limit.
Combining a heat soaked traction battery with a couple hours at 85+ mph is exactly why they build the prius., Everyone else was getting between 2-20 mpg.
Our long range achievers are usually in TX and FL. Closest that I got was 596 miles (955km). Temperature, terrain and driving style are the biggest factors. Some people just can’t get good mileage because of the drivers around them; they’re forced to drive faster or harder. Smooth driving (acceleration and brake) and gliding (engine off, no electricity use) maximizes mpg.
