So, have to get an ignition interlock system installed on my 2010 Prius. Anyone know where I can find a diagram for the technition? My biggest fear is after the install my car is going to throw out warning lights and codes like crazy. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
You can go to techinfo.toyota.com and sign up for a two day TIS subscription for only $15. That will give you (and/or your technician) two days access to all of the factory service manuals and wiring diagrams and should be more than enough info for him. Just make sure you wait to sign up until he's ready to work so your subcription doesn't expire before he's ready.
Thread resurrection! Were you able to get the interlock device to work in the prius? I'm looking at buying a 2010 Prius, and I'd have to have a Draeger Interlock device installed, and I'm nervous about problems. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Interlock systems are designed to be tamper-proof and force a retest every 15-30 minutes. If a retest doesn't happen or fails, then the system must be able to disable the car...some also flash the lights and honk the horn when this happens. It is not simple. They must be installed and maintained by someone licensed by the state anyway, so it is up to the owner to find someone capable of doing it. If you have to supply the wiring diagram to the technician who has no experience with a Prius, then the chances for a positive outcome are slim. For dustincbrown, I strongly recommend that you get an older Corolla and drive it with the interlock until your restriction is removed, then treat yourself to a newer Prius.
