If you get a Volt, just remember to get one of the new ones with the low emissions package - or you will not be able to get the HOV stickers.

Sorry Alan; Joe hasn't login in 10+ years - according to his profile. Your stolen CAT is covered under the comprehensive portion of your auto insurance. Hopefully you don't have a high deductible. You should look into getting some sort of CAT shield or variant installed with the new CAT; to prevent this from happening again. Good Luck....
Or he might not have comprehensive insurance. Even with insurance, I've heard some insurance companies are cutting corners, only authorizing cheap third-party catalytic converters. And OEM's are currently in ultra short supply. My 2 cents: If you've paid for compreshensive, the insurance companies should be legally required to spring for replacement with OEM CAT's, no exceptions. And if they're not available, draconian measures should be applied to the auto manufacturers to rectify that. One spin-off from that: law enforcement might actually get motivated, to get these guys behind bars.
