Import phone contacts into 2015 Prius?

I just bought a 2015 Prius IV, and was all excited that it came with Bluetooth, as my last car was a 2008 with no fun special features. However, while I have been able to connect my phone to get calls to come through the car speaker, I haven't been able to import my phone contacts, so I'm wondering if there's any way to do that. Let me be clear: This is not user error, I have done all the right things: Paired my phone, enabled synch on the phone, checked youtube, even asked the dealer that just sold me the car. I'm told the car is too old to be compatible with my iphone. Wondering if there's a workaround to get the contacts into the car?
