Love the look of the LED headlights on my new V so I converted the fogs to LED as well.......fairly sure they don't put out any more light than the halogens BUT they do look better, and, frankly fog lights are really all about others being able to see YOU...the LEDs are a more "piercing" light and makes the front of the car more "noticeable."
I had considered LED fog lamps but really, they are for aesthetics. They do look better that is for sure, but they don't put out no where near the light 55w halogens do in there (or HID's); At least the LED ones I have seen...
The purpose of fog lights is for the driver to have better visibility in fog conditions--not so others can see you.
Did you do a 'full conversion' to LEDs on the foglight assembly? Or did you just use LED bulbs? Did you use the regular LEDs or the SMD LEDs? Here's a few pics I took with a 30 SMD LED bulb in the fog light housing. I've been running HIDs ever since and will keep them instead of going back to LED foglights. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...-vs-halogen-yellow-bulbs-comparason-pics.html
Granted.... however, I have had factory fogs on many vehicles over the years and none of them did much of anything with regard to being able to see in fog! The only ones that ever were of any help were some after markets that I installed on my 94 Suburban....big orange things...now they really did increase the light during fog. I tried the standard fogs on my new Prius and saw very very little difference with them on or off...so... i put the led's in and at least it looks sharp!
