I have just got a new Prius C 2015 I-tech (my first Prius, plus my first new car in total). I got 2 Mini-806 Dash cams I wish to install one in front and back. I have also got a 5 and 6 meter usb cable and a dual usb socket charger (2.1a) to power them. The thing is that I want to run the cables from the front to the side. But I am not to sure on how to remove the sides as the manual shows that the side curtains safety bags are in the same place and I don't want to do anything to damage them or anything alse. I found a YouTube video of a Prius 2012 install but that doesn't have the same side curtains safety bags. Is it safe to remove the side panels (between the windshield and the door) Basically I wont to know is it safe to take off the inside side panels.... Yes or No... Yes it is ok, No don't do it....?
I have the 2015 Prius C3 You're referring to the A-pillar. I just recently did it while installing the autodim homelink rearview mirror. All I can say is, the Prius C is the easiest car to disassemble. everything is pretty much plastic clip. You'll need a needle-nose plier to remove the a-pillar cover. first, I recomment to remove the rubber door jam, it makes removing the a-pillar panel much much easier. Afterward just pry the plastic panel out, you can use your hand if you want. It WILL stop you from completely remove the panel. there's 2 clips. one near the top and one around the center. Once the panel is loose, you'll need to use a needle-nose plier to rotate the top clip 90 degrees. That clip acts like a lock, and you need to unlock it by rotating it 90 degrees. Afterward, the whole panel just pops out and you can wire it however you want. That's it.
