Trying to determine if anyone can confirm if the UK gen3 prius contains the same intake manifold parts as the US. Ebay has a substantially cheaper price coming from the UK (like 1/2) than in the US and if I can just swap out a clean one and clean out the dirty one at my leisure, that removes a huge amount of labor to have the daily driver ready to go in one afternoon. Apologies if this has already been discussed, I did search and couldn't find a definitive answer.
I would think so I can't imagine it being different The difference between non-hybrid 2ZZ intakes are a little bit different. And you can ream our hybrid intake manifold out in like 30 minutes if you want to just with brushes and things like that The port that clogs up that runs down the whole manifold is easily accessible at one end so you can roto-Rooter that with a pretty stout gun brush and vacuum it out with the Shop-Vac and then do the individual ports All very quickly I mean 25 minutes or something. If you have the brushes and everything out and ready to go should be quite fast No need to be soaking and letting things soak overnight or for days or any of that You're going to do that just drop it off at the machine shop and let them tank the thing $25 or such.
The actually cleaning of the intake manifold takes me about an hour, tops. It takes me maybe another couple of hours, for removal/install, but you're always going to have that.
There have been several revisions of gen3 intakes which could be a factor. Apparently in some countries there are gen3s without egrs as well. Most new and genuine Toyota parts on ebay USA come from Toyota dealers. Their retail markups are at least 100% which leaves them plenty of margin even with slight discounts offered online (plus shipping) or to repair shops with accounts. Generally a ship to store (dealership) option is offered which can be the best price. I would wonder about UK to USA shipping which is usually pricey.
