I'm always amused by these articles. Half of them say the probem with solar is that is does not produce at night; the other half say the problem with wind is that it produces at night. As for fresnel *only* being 26% thermally efficient -- the authors are apparently not aware of what the state of PV is today. More generally, I wonder what ROI terms investors are demanding. Given that small investors agree to 2% in CDs I am inclined to think that the problem is inefficient capitalizaion, bureaucracy, and fat middle-men, not the amortized cost of the technology, even without subsidy.
