I have a number of very annoying frustrations which seem to be pushing me towards visiting a dealer. Last time I did that, they charged me a lot of money for something stupid, I can't remember what it was, so I've just kinda let this stuff pile up over the past couple years. The biggest thing is that I don't seem to be able to get complete codes from the computer, clear them, and possibly some other stuff. I have a bluetooth OBDII adapter and Torque Pro on Android. I replaced my brake pads, and ever since then the ABS and brake idiot lights are on. Brakes work fine, ABS does not. OBD shows no codes. The "maintenance required" message has come up on the screen since the 120kmi mark. I did the maintenance but everything I've tried to reset the maintenance schedule does nothing. TPMS hasn't worked in ages, and I don't care. I can use a tire gauge. But the TPMS light alternates between staying on and flashing on and off. It's rather distracting. Thanks in advance for any advice on this matter, Scott
you might need tech stream, but you could try dr. prius or hybrid assistant. the reset is in the manual. if that doesn't work, idk only solution for the light is electrical tape
Dr. Prius seems to only be showing me battery info. Useful, but not helpful here. I hadn't heard of Hybrid Assistant before, but it wouldn't connect to my OBD dongle so I'm guessing I need a different one of those the reset is in the manualthe user manual?
In many generations of Prius, to make sure you can always get brake trouble codes even if you don't have a working scan tool, you can use a jumper wire between the Tc and CG pins of the diagnostic connector, and count the light blinks to get the codes. I cannot say for sure that it works on the c, but it works on the Gen 3 liftback, which is roughly the same vintage of computers. Probably worth a try. You can find a lot of threads here with the details.
Welcome to the state of taxes and regulations. @rjparker did a nice writeup in this thread that's also in the Prius C forums. Best Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner? | PriusChat There is Hybrid Assistant Hybrid Reporter and Tire Assistant (tire assistant will read the TPMS sensor data currently programmed in the car, but it can't reprogram the sensor serial numbers yet). That is the case with most of the legal inexpensive OBD2 diagnostic programs. rj explains some more in the post linked above. If you want a bluetooth dongle to connect to a phone or laptop a decent search string is vgate icar pro bluetooth 4.0 - both ebay and amazon sellers again, finding the diagnostic software to use on a phone / bluetooth for the prius is the hard part and with ABS nonfunctional you are going to need the DTC's Diagnostic Error Codes to know what the problem(s) is(are) with the car.
