Hello. I am a fairly new 2013 Prius C (Four) owner and I was wondering about cabin noise, specifically plastic clicking and popping. My questions is, has anyone else noticed plastic clicking and popping sounds coming from the dash area? It's hard to pinpoint exactly where but most of the sounds comes from the far left and right corners, close to the window vents where the windshield meets the dash. I do also notice some noise around the middle of the dash as well. This occurs on any type of road condition but is of course aggravated with rougher road surfaces. I don't believe it to be a small piece of plastic bouncing around but more of loose panels or something of that nature but I'm not sure. I have been driving the car for close to two months now, traveling both city and highway miles with hills and straights so I would consider that I have passed the break in period. Yes the car is made of a lot of plastic and is not a luxury car but I have owned what I would consider similar cars such as the VW Golf and Honda Civic and have not had problems as such with this type of issue with fit and finish. It's not supper loud but it can be annoying on long drives even with low level music playing. In my opinion I think this should not be an issue but I would still love to hear from others whether you have or have not had any issue as such. Sincerely, Ryan.
I've got such rattles coming front behind the front air vents. driver and passenger side. the noise can be removed if you pull on the dash, but it comes back moments later.
many have taken everything apart and put felt between contacting surfaces. others have had good luck taking it back to the dealer and letting them do it under warranty.
Cold mornings create more dash noise then on warm days, but nothing that will drive me nuts. Its thin light weight plastic, I knew when buying the car that this may be an issue.
i have heard something like this while i was driving in big sur w the radio off, i haven't noticed it since. i was pleasantly surprised to find that nothing rattles when i listen to music at high volume. the bass is substantial, but i don't hear any rattles. compared to my last car (2003 nissan altima - lots of rattles w music at high volume), the prius c is great in this aspect.
