My 2007 (with Nav package and aftermarket Sirius radio) recently started losing channel settings on the Sirius (not on the FM radio!), the dash clock resets, and, recently, the miles-per-gallon and miles driven since last fill-up reset to zero. These events are sporadic, but have started occurring more often. The dealer seems unable to figure out the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
Weird stuff happening? MPGs dropping? Test The Battery | PriusChat Check the battery. Report back with all three (3) voltages. Sounds like your 12 volt is going bad.
Those voltages are not bad. Not perfect, but not bad either. Just a little lower than a new fully charged AGM battery. One question, was the test run after the car has set for at least overnight? If not, I would suggest you let the Prius sit overnight and run the test again.
If the 12V battery is OK (it seems) then I would check the aftermarket modification for loose connections. Good luck!
I would also check to be certain that all connections from the 12 volt auxiliary battery are clean and tight. A few folks here on PC in the past have found loose or corroded connections either at the battery or at the body where the negative terminal terminates. Also, make certain that the fusible link is tight and that there is no corrosion on the two plugs that plug into the positive cable. Sporadic electrical problems can be difficult to trace unless you can catch the car when the affected system is malfunctioning, and even then can still be difficult to track down. I don't think it is your auxiliary battery at this point, but rather a connection somewhere. The trick will be finding the connection that is causing the sporadic problem.
Problem solved!! (Maybe...) Dealer found loose 12v. battery connections. I am hoping for the best. Thanks to all for your help!
